"Today I begin to understand what love is. . . . When we are parted,
we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves.
We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost.
That is what I know love to be: incompleteness in absence..."
Alexandre Hazen Dornback
4) Kim's Wedding
Tips!
A
Few Winter Wedding Tips...
TIP #1: With a winter wedding be sure to offer the guests a warm drink
option such as hot cider, hot chocolate and /or coffee to warm them
up. Egg nog is always a festive seasonal option as well.
TIP #2: Many wedding and reception sites will have Christmas decorations
up already for the season, and you can save some money on decorating
if theirs is a motif that you can incorporate into your theme. If there
is an option for those little white lights, I can personally attest
to the magical quality they can lend to an evening reception. Granted
my wedding was in July, but as a December bride you probably won't have
to fight so hard to get them put up!
TIP #3: Personalized Christmas ornaments make an excellent wedding favor
because you know that your guests will see your favor and use it at
least once a year! With the internet in hand you can find them inexpensively
and can make them for even less, but start well in advance if you intend
to do them yourself! Barring that, Christmas cookies, gingerbread men
or chocolates wrapped in red, green and gold will work as an inexpensive
option as well.
4A)Wedding
Dance Tip
One of the problems with inclement weather such as snow
or rain, is the mess is can make of the floor. When dancing, it is important
to make sure that the dance surface is not only swept but completely
dry. It is utterly amazing how slippery a 2 inch square section of wet
flooring can be, and on your wedding day you can be sure that you will
not miss the slippery spot!
5) A Wedding Tradition
Explained!
"Winter Weddings"
Bad weather on the day of one's wedding was once considered a bad omen
for the marriage. Thus tradition held that clouds, rain and wind on
your wedding day would result in a stormy marriage. Conversely or perversely,
snow on your wedding day was considered a sign of fertility and prosperity!
According to folklore, the month you marry in would dictate the fate
or your marriage. The traditional poem starts out with "Married when
the year is new, he'll be loving, kind and true" and ends with "When
December snows fall fast, marry and true love will last".
