Kim's Wedding Tips!
We recently tied those knots and have
tips, tricks and to be avoided stories to share:
Selecting
Your Flowers ...
When thinking about your ideal flowers for your wedding, make a list
of what you want in the order of how important each thing is to you.
That way it will be easier for you to make decisions about making your
flower budget work for you. It is easier to compromise if you have your
priorities set ahead of time. If you want orchids on each table, you
might not have enough to have a full bouquet for each bridesmaid, or
if you want garlands down the aisles, you might have to stint on arrangements
for the alter. Get a clear vision in your head and be sure to ask the
florist to suggest some flowers for arrangements that are in season
and will compliment your wedding colors and theme. By using less expensive
filler flowers mixed in with your signature flowers on arrangements
it will cost you less and give you more bang for your buck. Some obvious
considerations are:
1) Your bouquet, which comes first on this list. Come with pictures
of bouquets that you like, being specific about your desires makes it
much easier for the florist to understand and fulfill your needs.
2) Bridesmaids' bouquets - You can have them carry a bouquet or choose
one flower complimenting your own.
3) Boutonnieres for the Groom, Groomsmen and Fathers of the Wedding
Couple.
4) Corsages for Mothers of the Bridal couple and other important women
in the family.
5) Arrangements for the church and or reception site - These can do
double duty if you have a member of the wedding party transport these
arrangements from one local to another.
6) Center pieces for the tables.
7) Cake Flowers.
8) Flower girl flowers, petals and headgear.

Dance Tip
"DANCING WITH YOUR BOUQUET"
Don't do it! I know in a lot of the magazines, they show pictures of
a bride and groom dancing together with a bouquet in her hand but these
people are not really dancing. It is staged. The last thing you need
is something to take care of while you dance. The first dance is a moment
dedicated to showing the wedding couple moving together as one, a symbol
and celebration of how the newly married will dance through the rest
of their lives as man and wife. Do not complicate this by adding in
something you have to take care of and will probably block the photographer
from getting a good shot of the two of you enjoying the moment!
5) A Wedding Tradition
Explained!
The
Meaning of Roses
The Victorians had many interesting traditions
for conveying meaning from the way one placed a stamp on an envelope
to the type of food served. Among the many unspoken social communications,
there developed an entire language surrounding flowers. They were given
at many occasions and for various reasons. Flowers are still given to
show thoughtfulness and love or to express feelings which words are
unable to convey. We can thank the Victorians for the bridal obsession
with roses which continues to make them the flower of choice for most
weddings. The Bride carrying roses meant "Happiness in love".
The Victorians also popularized the Red Rose as the emblem for
Passionate True Love. Even today, a Single Red Rose still bears that
meaning. The meanings for some other colors and types are as follows:
Pink - Perfect Happiness, Please Believe Me
White - Innocence and Purity, I am Worthy of You, You're Heavenly, Secrecy and Silence
White and Red Mixed - Unity of passion and purity, Flower Emblem of England
Yellow - Decrease of Love or Jealousy and ironically Friendship
Coral/Orange - Enthusiasm, Desire
Tea - I'll Remember Always
Thornless - Love at First Sight
Rosebud - Beauty and Youth, A Heart Innocent of Love, purity and girlhood
