We recently tied those knots and have tips, tricks and to be avoided stories to share: About The Shower ... Tip: If you are planning the shower yourself,
having a theme can be a lot of fun. One thing that I like is the pampering
/ beautification motif. You can often times get group rates at salons
for manicures or pedicures for you and the girls. If your list of attendees
is too large you can often get "Buckets of Beauty" kits at
places like Costco or in many malls. These kits usually come with everything
you need for 6 women! Add music, candles, some food and maybe a movie
and you are set for a wonderful night with your friends. Be sure that
you tell everyone what the theme is so that they dress appropriately
and are prepared for whatever activity you have planned. 5) A Wedding Tradition Explained! The Bridal Shower Some say the tradition of the bridal shower came about to support a bride whose father was against the marriage and therefore wouldn't give her a dowry. To soften the blow, the Bride's female friends and family would give her gifts she would need in marriage. In more modern times, the Bridal Shower exists to strengthen friendships between the bride and her friends who give her moral support and help her prepare for her marriage. The idea to give fun gifts is fairly new; probably starting with the Victorians as so many of our wedding traditions do. In the 1890’s, at one shower, the bride’s friend put a number of small gifts inside a parasol and opened it over the bride’s head so that the presents would "shower" over her. When word of this hit the fashion pages, people were so taken with the idea that they decided to do the same at their showers.
