A Wedding Tradition Explained!
"Mexican Wedding Cookies"
In the Mexican
state of Oaxaca, these round white cookies are wrapped in fringed white
tissue paper and given as wedding favors. "Mexican" Wedding Cookies
are actually known to and claimed by everyone from the Austrians to
the Greeks. Traditionally they are served at weddings, christenings,
Christmas, and other festive occasions inspiring cookies. Other names
for these cookies include Russian Tea Cakes, Italian Butter Nuts, Southern
Pecan Butterballs or Viennese Sugar Ball. They are short bread like
with ground nuts. The still warm cookies are rolled in powdered sugar
giving them yet another name of "snowballs". Mexican recipes tend to
use pecans, but other nuts, including walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and
pistachios, also taste good.

Kim's Wedding Tips!
I am all for edible favors. It is my firm conviction that they are the
only ones that get used. Any recipe you are considering using for your
wedding should be tried out at least 6 months prior to the wedding.
When my family makes rolled in powdered sugar cookies for gifts, we
freshen up the powdered sugar right before we package them. Packaging
the cookies will have to be cost effective. Tissue paper is a great
idea as it is inexpensive and easy to make pretty but the cookies will
dry out if left packaged that way for too long.

Kim's Wedding Dance Tip "Whatever
you say Honey!"
Practice these words if you want to have fun dancing with your husband.
Let me say them again: "Whatever you say Honey!" Men cannot
follow and tend to get frustrated when they are first learning to dance.
One of the most important things you can do to help is to move with
him no matter where he goes. Yes, even if he is wrong. I frequently
harp on the necessity of following the man versus doing the step correctly.
If you are right and he is wrong it hurts! Additionally your beloved
will be even more frustrated that he couldn't get you to do what he
wanted. If he is frustrated he will only get worse. Laugh, smile and
get out of his way. Work the male ego. Don't even mention that he did
a step wrong! This giving up being right is hard for most modern women.
The ERA does not exist on the dance floor. And it shouldn't -- If you
can lead a man around the dance floor then you will be utterly dissatisfied
with his lead. Not politically correct, but true. So, practice fluttering
the eyelashes, smile and say "Whatever you say Honey" whenever
he tries to lead you. When your fiance becomes more confident he will
be a joy to dance with and he will also enjoy dancing with you!
