A Word Or Two About The Favors...

Give the guests something fun to do and give it to them early. At my wedding we passed out bells just prior to the service which everyone rang with great enthusiasm during and after the first kiss. At the last wedding I was at they passed out bubbles which everyone blew at the bride and groom as they pulled up in a horse and carriage. Talk about a great photo op! Think of something to be enjoyed at the moment. Chocolates can be had in any shape to fit your wedding theme. A single rose in your wedding colors is a lovely way to share the moment with the wedding guests. Who doesn't feel festive while wearing a flower? Just be sure that whoever passes the flowers out has a load of straight pins so that people can pin them on.

5) A Wedding Tradition Explained!

Carrying The Bride Over The Threshold
In the old days of"Marriage by Capture," the bride had to be dragged or carried across the threshold because she was being kidnapped, and therefore would not have gone peacefully into the groom's home. In earlier times, people thought that a family's demons followed the woman and to keep her family demons from going into the groom's home, she was carried across the threshold upon her entering for the first time. In the times of the Romans, when men ALWAYS opened doors for ladies, this would just seem like a natural thing to do, but they believed it to be such bad luck for the bride to trip or stumble crossing the threshold of her new house, that if it were to happen, the marriage would be doomed to failure. So the groom would carry his bride over the threshold thus making sure she didn't trip.
