A Wedding Tradition Explained!
"Throwing Confetti"
Throwing confetti over the newly weds descended from the ancient Pagans
who would shower the happy couple with grain to wish them a "fruitful"
union. It was hoped that the fertility of the seeds would transfer to
the newly married couple upon whom they fell. The throwing of rice has
the same symbolic meaning. The word confetti has the same root as the
word in Italian used for "sweetmeats" that is, grain and nuts coated
in sugar that were thrown over newly weds with the same pro generative
wishes. In modern times, small pieces of colored paper and glitter have
replaced sugarcoated nuts as a festive yet much less expensive substitute,
but the use of the word confetti has remained.

Kim's Wedding Tips!
1) Throwing dry rice is no longer done because it results in large numbers
of birds dying when the dry rice expands in their digestive track. If
you have your heart set on rice, there are companies that make tiny
heart shaped rice puff confetti that is totally bird safe.
2) If you are not planning to dance and want a diversion, pass out bubbles
as your wedding favors right before your first dance. Your guests can
be blowing bubbles on you to set a fun ambiance to kick off the reception
reception.

Kim's Wedding Dance Tip "Dancing
Is FUN!!!!!!"
Whether or not you take lessons to learn how to dance,
you and your fiance should try dancing together for fun. How confident
a man feels about dancing has everything to do with how he will perform
under the pressure of being watched by 200 eyes. When dancing, women
want to look beautiful and have fun. Men have an entirely different
motivation - men do not want to "look stupid". This masculine
desire is much stronger than any dream we may have about looking like
Cinderella at the ball. Some men feel so ill at ease with dancing, that
they suggest not having a first dance! Luckily most men can be brought
around fairly easily with a little practice and the right attitude from
you. Men like to do things that they do well, have total control over
and for which they get positive reinforcement. Too often, we try to
lead them when their lead is weak. This is natural - someone has to
lead! The problem is that to him, it feels like you are holding the
steering wheel, while he is driving. No man ever enjoys being pulled
around by a woman on the dance floor! I suggest you place the non- dancing
male in a secure private place and try dancing together to music that
will inspire him to move. "Love Man" off the Dirty Dancing
Soundtrack is very effective for loosening guys up. Think "FUN".
Flirty helps too. Try to move with him. Smile at him, say "Spin
me" and WAIT for him to do so. Negative reinforcement NEVER works,
so enjoy yourself and say nothing critical. The real trick to getting
your fiance to love dancing is to show him that it is as fun as driving
a Jag or playing a video game.
