A Wedding Tradition Explained!
"Aisle Runners"
Hundreds of years ago, Brides in China were often carried to their weddings.
It was thought that evil spirits that lurked in the ground and they
did not want the Bride's feet to touch the ground and come in contact
with them. Today, the aisle runner is one of the the descendants of
that tradition (on the practical side, the runner also helps to keep
the Bride's gown clean.) The aisle runner can also signify a pure pathway
into happiness.

Kim's Wedding Tips!
Aisle Runners can be a great way to formalize an outdoor or other not
church wedding. Even in the church they set a more formal mood. Many
houses of worship will not allow you to have rose petals thrown in front
of you, for fear of damaging their carpeting and an aisle runner can
often be the perfect compromise. Many rental places can charge a pretty
penny for these pieces of fabric while others are quite reasonable -
so shop around. Another idea is to consider buying the fabric yourself.
Many fabric stores will let you sign up for their newsletters to get
discounts. I get at least one 50% of any one item from Joann Fabrics
every 2 months. One fabric cut is considered an item, so go with the
exact measurements you need and buy one extra yard. You can match the
color of your dress, bridesmaids' dresses, flowers or whatever you like.
Be careful to select a fabric which is not likely to get caught on your
heels! One long running stitch on either side is all you need, but if
you are a true no-sew kind of girl, decorative pinking shears will do
the trick as well. A decorative trim can be added with fabric glue but
that will increase the price. In retrospect I wish I had made a runner
for my outdoor wedding; my train now has grass stains on it which I
have been unable to get out.

Kim's Wedding Dance Tip
"Up Tempo Music Is Easier To Dance To!"
In previous generations people often went dancing together. It was one
of the common ways to meet prospective partners. As a result many of
them had a "song". Today many couples do not have their own
"special song" and must pick one. Pick a song that you love
wherein the lyrics sound like you. If you are picking a song to dance
to, Up Tempo is always better! When dancing in front
of a crowd, most people get an adrenaline rush. This can tend to make
leaders move faster than normal. Dancing slowly also requires more control
than moving at a faster pace. Foxtrot songs tend to be easy to hear
the beat in, and have an easy walking, strolling kind of gait. If you
want to dance to a slow ballad like "At Last" by Etta James
or True Companion by Marc Cohen, then you should dance to that song
which you love. On the other hand, if you don't have a song you're in
love with, pick one that will be easy on your man! Check out Foxtrots
on our Song Suggestion List page!

Let the sound of the great highland bagpipe
add a note of distinction to your wedding. The
pipes have long been a tradition for Scottish and Irish weddings. But
you do not need Scottish or Irish roots to appreciate their special
contribution to your celebration. They can be used to welcome the guests
as they arrive for your wedding, lead the groom and groom’s men or the
bride and bride’s maids into the service, or even entertain your guests
while photographs are taken after the ceremony, as they go through your
receiving line. You can have them perform outside your reception site
as guests arrive, announce the new bride and groom entering the reception
or sound the fanfare as you leave. Norm Weaver would enjoy working with
you to develop a special program of bagpipe music for your special wedding.
With more than 20 years experience in piping for weddings, he can also
help you find ways of adding other touches of Celtic heritage to make
your wedding even more memorable.

Poems, Prayers & Promises
A
romantic quote to simply to elevate your mood or to help you find the
right sentiment for your vows or ceremony.
THE
IRISH WEDDING SONG
"Here they stand hand in hand they've exchanged wedding bands
Today is the day of their dreams and their plans,
and all we who love them just wanted to say.
May God bless this couple who married today.
In good times and bad times in sickness and health
may they know that riches are not needed for wealth
and help them face problems they'll meet on their way
Oh god bless this couple who married today.
May they find peace of mind comes to all who are kind
May the rough times ahead become triumphs in time
May their children be happy each day
Oh God bless this family who started today
As they go may they know every love that was shown
And as life it gets shorter may their feelings grow
Wherever they travel wherever they stay
May God bless this couple who married today"

Clonmacnoise monastery was founded in 545 AD. when the rest of Europe
was in the dark ages, it was considered an "island of saints and
scholars". Today it is one of Ireland's more famous visitors' centers.
For hundreds of years, couples in love have stood on each side of this
arch whispering their words of love to each other.
