About 7 years ago, I was a dance instructor for one of the big name dance studios, and periodically an

engaged couple would come in to take lessons for their First Dance.

I realized that wedding couples were not being properly serviced by the traditional dance studios. Their programs are geared towards longer term dance hobbyists who want to learn multiple dances, whereas many wedding couples just want to learn one or two dances quickly. Wedding couples often felt it would be too expensive and time consuming. They were frequently given to less experienced teachers, because they wouldn't buy many lessons.

I decided to change all that!

A real need existed to provide quality dance instruction at reasonable rates, tailored specifically to the needs of couples. I put my ten years experience to work, and began to plan and develop individualized packages especially for couples, so they could learn how to develop a confident and beautiful dance for their wedding reception. And, 5 years ago, First Dance Impressions was born!

Our Wedding Dance Packages are designed to make it easy for you to learn just one -- or as many dances as you'd like. Our experienced instructors focus very strongly on leading and following so that you move together as one as you dance. We've taught many engaged couples how to dance, so they could make their First Dance together as Husband and Wife a moment they could both enjoy and be proud of. Check out the testimonial below! We currently teach dancing out of Studio Locations in Fairfax and Warrenton, Virginia.

I personally specialize in American Style Ballroom (Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango) and Latin (Salsa, Mambo, Cha Cha, Rhumba, Merengue), Argentine Tango (my favorite Dance) and Swing (I really love for Lindy). While the primary focus of First Dance Impressions is to teach wedding couples, we frequently teach non wedding couples, singles (some for 8 years) and groups, and are available for Ballroom Dance performances. All of our instructors dance both the leader's and the follower's parts regularly. This allows us to easily show both the leaders and the followers how to succeed on the dance floor and succeed with style. I believe that the fun and joy of dancing should belong to every generation and teach dancers aged 5 to 85 -- from beginning through advanced levels in 18 dances. I am also experienced in teaching hearing and physically impaired individuals to dance.

We can teach any size dance class, from private one-on-one dance lessons all the way to large on-site groups. My personal experience with group class dance instruction includes teaching in Private Dance Studios, Local Night Clubs and Restaurants, as well as for Corporate Functions, the Girl Scouts, High Schools and the United States' Air force.

Need a dance teacher for a party? We can work with any DJ or band you have selected to coordinate the tone and music with dance lessons and Dance Performances. Will travel!

"Speak to anyone who knows me and none will mention "Rhythm" and my name in the same sentence. I am not a natural on the dance floor. In fact, I am a born enemy to toes and feet alike. That said, my wife and I, for some reason, decided we'd like to entertain our family and friends by attempting a Tango for our first dance together. Thanks entirely to Kim Bosch van Drakenstein, we did more than attempt it, we owned it. And all this came with just five lessons.
Before it all started, we let Kim know, first and foremost, we wanted to have fun. And saying that we had ended up having fun is an understatement. The best thing about Kim (beyond the fact that she's a fantastic instructor) is the fact that she doesn't make you feel nervous or awkward, even when you indeed are nervous and awkward. My wife and I looked forward to our lessons, almost as if they were dates. And we were amazed at how quickly Kim was able to show us moves. And proof of Kim's excellent instruction came on our wedding night, September 6th, 2003 (I won't forget this date, I won't forget this date, I won't forget this date) when we got up in front of our 125 guests, prowled around the dance floor, and did a Tango as if we'd been doing it for years.
Hearing people cheer, clap and ohhh and ahhhh over the music was fantastic. And being able to fluidly and effortlessly Tango while a myriad of flashbulbs pulsed all around us is something we shall never forget. And even today, weeks after the event, we're still receiving notes and calls from our family and friends. Though we may not be Ginger and Fred, we've been told by many that they couldn't believe just how wonderful we looked.
Natasha and I are definitely going to take more lessons and learn a couple more dances from Kim. First because we know she's a great instructor and we'll learn them well enough to show our stuff in public; and second because Kim just has a way of making it fun. So, whether you're just looking for a good time, or you want to impress a crowd and have a memorable experience, I highly recommend taking your lessons with Kim.
